Overview

Escape to the heart of the Algarve countryside for an authentic and sustainable farm experience, where nature, tradition, and gastronomy come together in perfect harmony. Your journey begins in the organic citrus groves, where you’ll hand-pick sun-kissed oranges while breathing in the fresh countryside air. As you wander among the orchards, you’ll be surrounded by blooming flowers, fruit trees, and the sounds of nature, creating a truly idyllic atmosphere. After the harvest, step into a traditional Algarve home, where a warm and welcoming kitchen awaits. Here, using fresh, seasonal vegetables straight from the farm’s garden and locally sourced ingredients, you’ll enjoy a home-cooked meal full of authentic flavors. Each dish is prepared with care, following the region’s culinary traditions, for a true taste of Algarve’s rural heritage. Before lunch, take part in a hands-on jam-making workshop, turning your freshly picked oranges into a delicious homemade preserve. Meanwhile, the tranquil farm setting—complete with a picturesque pond, ducks, and free-roaming chickens—enhances the sense of peace and connection to nature. This experience is not just about food; it’s about slowing down, appreciating the land, and sharing a moment of simplicity and joy with fellow travelers in an intimate, family-like setting.

Super fun family experience, even in the rain! We really enjoyed visiting the farm, picking oranges, and making marmalade. We had young children with us and they had an absolute blast. The hosts were so incredibly warm, welcoming, accommodating and kind. The lunch was our favourite meal in Portugal - so delicious and warm on a cooler day! It was the perfect family friendly activity that gave us a taste of farm life, family life, and culture in the Algarves. Highly recommend!

Although the citrus season had finished the trip was much better than expected. We visited an organic citrus grove, the owner Joao was really interesting, explaining the ways of organic citrus growing. We had homemade bread, jams and marmalade from fruits grown on the farm. Instead of oranges we came away with marmalade and jam! We then went to the town of Sives with Matteo our guide. He bought food and wine from a specialist shop, for our picnic lunch in a "secret garden" . This was out in the hills beyond Silves and was idyllic. The food was excellently prepared by our host Jose. We had a wonderful day out. Our guide Matteo spoke perfect English and was extremely knowledgeable about the area.
