Overview

We start early in the morning heading to a secret garden where a local farmer will serve a delicious home-made breakfast prepared with its own fruits and produce from the farm. A coffee and a chat with the owner will get you into the rural side of the Algarve with its traditions and cultural heritage. After this stop we will cycle on comfortable e-bikes along white-washed villages and the stunning beauty of the so called "Barrocal", the inland Algarve. Along the way we will stop at a cheese factory to take away the freshest goat cheese and then in a bakery to learn first-hand how the famous "Bread with Chouriço" is prepared in a real wood-fired oven. All packed, we'll head to a panoramic point on top of a hill to enjoy these delicacies with amazing views over the valley and rolling hills of Silves. On the way back, an hidden lake will reveal all its beauty.

Reviews

Had a fantastic day out with Matteo! This is a hidden gem, off the well-trodden tourist path and a brilliant way to learn about rural Portuguese culture today.

Tripadvisor

This is a great way to see the less touristy side of the Algarve. Matteo is a great host, full of information and very helpful. We had a lovely breakfast in a secluded outdoor area in the country - bread, home made jams, fruit (the best plum I have ever tasted!), coffee, mint tea - superb. We also had a nice "rustic" lunch at a spectacular viewing point. Some of the scenery on the route is breathtaking. It was quite a long trip but the e-bikes made the journey easy. Thoroughly recommended.

Tripadvisor

We cannot recommend this experience enough, it has been the highlight of our week in the Algarve! Matteo was a fantastic host, the routes were quiet with great views, and picking up the picnic from local stores en route was a particular highlight! Breakfast was also amazing with persimmons we picked ourselves and freshly squeezed pomegranate juice. Thank you Matteo!

Yes, I did run the tour for families with children of 12 years old without any problems. What is very important is that the minimum height of 1.40 cm is reached. I do have electric byclces XS, but less than 1.40 cm is not advisable.

The total track lenght is about 45 km. Depending on weather conditions, we may opt for a shorter (40km) or longer (50km) if it's not too warm.

Anyway, the tour is absolutely fine for any fitness level, being electric assisted bikes really powerful and provided with long lasting batteries (more than 70km autonomy)
